When planning a trip to the beautiful island of Mykonos, we always make sure to stay for at least 3-4 nights in order to fully experience all that the island has to offer. TRANSPORTATION IN MYKONOS
After trying various modes of transportation on Mykonos, such as buses, buggies, taxis, and cars, we have come to the conclusion that renting a car is the most efficient and safest way to see the island. By renting a car, you’ll be able to explore the island at your own pace and visit all the attractions and destinations that interest you. To get the best rates and ensure availability, we recommend booking your rental car in advance. When choosing a rental car, we recommend opting for an automatic vehicle, as the roads on Mykonos can be narrow, bumpy, and hilly, and driving a manual car can be challenging in these conditions. While renting a motorbike or buggie may be one of the cheapest options, we do not recommend it due to the strong winds that are common on the island. Overall, we believe that renting a car is the best way to experience the freedom and convenience of exploring Mykonos on your own terms.
- Cheapest Transportation: Bus – [€1.80 & €2.30 after midnight (one way), time-consuming, crowded]
- Most Convinient Transportation: Buggie or Motorbike – [from €10.00 per day, easy to park]
- Most Comftable Transportation: Car [from €40.00 per day, hard to park, reliable & convenient]
Finally, if you are thinking of taking a taxi, it will cost you around €30.00 from the airport to your accommodation and about €13.00 for one-way trips to beaches etc.

RECOMMENDED BEACHES
When it comes to choosing a beach on the beautiful island of Mykonos, there are many options to consider. If you’re looking for luxury and exclusivity, you may want to visit the famous Psarou Coast and its beach bar, Nammos, which is known for its expensive prices and high-end atmosphere. However, if you’re on a budget or prefer a more laid-back and affordable experience, there are many other beaches to choose from.
Our personal favorites are Branco in Platis Gialos and Pasaji in Ornos beach. These two beach bars offer a great combination of sweet, chilled music, crystal clear waters, delicious food and drinks, and affordable prices. The sunbeds at these beach bars start at €30.00 for two people, including two sun towels, an umbrella, and two small bottles of water. Keep in mind that the closer your sunbed is to the sea, the more it will cost. But even with this added expense, you can still enjoy a relaxing and enjoyable day at the beach without breaking the bank. Whether you’re looking for luxury or affordability, Mykonos has a beach for everyone.

RECOMMENDED RESTAURANTS & BARS
Nusret Steak House: It might not be the most budget-friendly restaurant, but it has the best vibe and the most outstanding atmosphere of them all. If you want to experience the famous Nusr-et in action, then these are our tips to keep your bill as minimum as possible. Start with the juicy beef burger if you are a meat lover and the Nusr-et salad if you are a vegetarian (prices are €50.00 and €25.00 accordingly) accompanied with a delicious cocktail (€25.00). Finish, with the famous baklava that is more than enough to share (€25.00).
Amades Restaurant : Our favourite pure Greek taverna with the best quality of ingredients and the warmest hospitality you will ever see in Mykonos town. It is a small family-owned business, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is peaceful, serene and above all, Greek!! A bill for two will cost you around €40.00 to €70.00, depending on the drinks and the selection of food.
Scorpios Mykonos: Ideally, if you have the budget, you would visit Scorpios for an all-day experience. But our budget-friendly recommendation is to visit it on sundown. Watching the sunset while drinking fine cocktails and eating the freshly prepared guacamole dip accompanied with tortilla chips is our perfect and most romantic combination of all. This magical evening will cost you around €60.00 for two.

IS MYKONOS EXPENSIVE? ACT LIKE A LOCAL!
If you want to experience Mykonos like a true local, there are a few things you can do to blend in with the locals and truly immerse yourself in the island’s unique culture and atmosphere. First, set your alarm early in the morning so you can enjoy a delicious breakfast of freshly baked bread or pastries and a cold iced Freddo coffee. We recommend trying Gerasimos Bakery for a tasty and authentic breakfast experience. After breakfast, take a peaceful morning walk along the coastline or explore the charming alleys of Mykonos town. This is a great way to start your day and experience the island at its most peaceful and beautiful.
Next, try the best Greek fast-food chain, Goody’s Burger House, which uses high-quality Greek ingredients. Goody’s is trendy in Greece and offers affordable prices, even in a touristy island like Mykonos. A burger meal at Goody’s costs just €6.00 and is a great way to try some tasty and authentic Greek fast food.
Finally, if you want to enjoy a delicious Greek Gyro, make sure to try Souvlaki Story. Order it for take-away and add the famous tzatziki sauce to your pita for a truly authentic experience.
